Perennial plants are garden staples, as they come back year after year. Perennials vary greatly in size, season, and care needs, and with thousands of perennials available at Jolly Lane Greenhouse, you’re sure to find plants to suit your taste and garden design.

Most perennials are easy to care for, and flourishing plants can be divided for use in other beds. When choosing perennials, consider the adult height and span, to make sure vigorous plants won’t overcrowd smaller ones.

Herbaceous perennials and flowering bulbs can be grouped by color, size, or time of bloom, depending on the overall effect you desire. To create a border bed, place the tallest plants in the back, with shorter ones in front. For an island bed, which can be viewed from all sides, place the tallest plants in the center.

Hosta

Hostas come in dozens of varieties, from small (about 1’ tall) to extra large (2.5’ tall), and in multiple shades of green, gold, and blue. These herbaceous perennials are hardy plants, requiring minimal care to flourish and produce tiny flowers. Hostas have large foliage, making them popular plants for border beds, around mailboxes, and along walkways.
